Welcome To My Website

Years ago, when I was in junior high school, I decided to learn how to fly radio controlled airplanes. I built a Carl Goldberg Falcon 56 with an OS Max 0.35 nitro engine and a Futaba 6 channel radio. It took forever to build and I crashed often so many more weeks were spent rebuilding. I never got all that good at it and finally gave up mostly out of frustration.
I'm older and wiser and I have developed the bug to fly again but I want a lower impact approach. I don't want to quit in frustration and I don't want to spend all my time building/rebuilding or cleaning castor oil off my plane at the end of each flying session.
I found Dave Powers (his wife Val and their friend Keith) on the RCPowers website and became instantly intrigued. Dave builds some awesome planes and has mad flying skills, Val videos it and runs a great website and Keith calls himself a "dope" but is very smart and insightful. The planes look like they go together quick, are made out of foam ("foamies") and are powered by electric motors. I've watched all their videos and I'm taking their advice starting with a simulator (I wish I had that back in the day).
Follow my adventures in my Blog as I take you through all the steps of learning to fly again. I'll be using the Dave Powers approach with my own spin on it. Along the way I'll try to give my own advice and explain all the stuff that the old hands know but always seem to forget to tell you.
I'm Foamy not Foamie

"Foam" and "Dave" are pretty common words. So just to be clear. I'm FoamyDave from the USA not Foamie Dave Royds from the UK nor am I Foamie Dave from Canada. I really thought no one had this screen name when I picked but at least I am unique in that I spell mine with a "y" and not an "ie"!
